Lesley Crosby, the owner of Pupcakes, has always had a deep love for animals. It was her dream to one day be a veterinarian and she worked hard to achieve that dream; however, while in high school her mother suffered a massive stroke. Lesley had to choose between caring for her mother or pursuing her dream. She chose her mother.
Lesley went to work as a manager for several telecommunication companies, and loved the work, but still yearned to work with animals. When she met her husband, Jonathan, she was given the support and encouragement she needed to pursue her dream. It all started at the Pendleton Farmer's Market with her homemade gourmet dog treats. From there she added handcrafted items such as beds, collars, leashes, and toys. As she got to know her customers, she realized that what they really wanted was a groomer they could trust. Lesley went back to school and received her grooming certificate and thus, Pupcakes was born. Since starting grooming in 2015, Lesley has achieved the status of becoming an International Certified Master Groomer.
Lesley wants to do more than own a business. It's her goal to make a difference for pets and the people who love them. She has since added boarding and doggie day care to the Pupcakes pet care lineup.
Currently Lesley is working on starting a non-profit to help local residents with the cost of emergency vet care for their pets. She believes that no pet should have to suffer simply because of the owners inability to pay a vet bill. Most notably she was the 2016 recipient of the Pet Industry Woman Entrepreneur of the Year Award, and in 2019 was elected as the President of the Oregon Professional Pet Groomers Association.
